A Moment for Fredrick Douglass
Fredrick Douglass was a Civil Rights leader who rose from slavery in the 19th century. When he was young he found out that his gift of reading ant writing could get him out of slavery. At age 20 he escaped to the north and lived with his beloved wife Anna Murray Douglass in Newbewford Massachusetts. He devoted life to freedom and worked with presidents and other important figures for civil rights. He was also a major voice for woman’s rights movements. He was a slave, presidential advisor, orator, author, social reformer, journalist, publisher, human and woman rights activist, and altogether a great and inspirational man.
