The Power In Our Hands
Mass genocide in the world was said to be over. We as a world power agreed that we would not let such terror overrun any part of our world. We would look after each other like a community; however the community is world wide. However was that just an empty promise? Could it be that we are letting slums grow on the outskirts of our society?
Darfur has become that slum; there is nothing here but terror and the lack of hope. Unannounced to most people a 21st mass genocide is going on, and has been for years. Here is the evidence of a community that needs to put itself back together. At this moment in the region of Darfur, a region of Sudan people are dying, woman are being raped, families are being separated with nothing but the dream of one day being reunited, children are running screaming crying out for an end to violence yet like the slums of every great city, every great community they are ignored. How is it we can go and start a war with no goal, no end in sight yet we ignore the husbands and wives grieving over their separation, the kids who cant understand why the world is so cruel, the young woman who cry themselves to sleep from being raped before finding love, the starvation the famine how can we let this go on. The Sudanese government uses well coordinated attacks with bandits and nomads called the Janjaweed to lay waste to whole towns. How can a government associate themselves with bandits? Yet the community is so busy debating they forgot what the problem was. We as the worlds greatest country have to take our part to ensure that are global community runs right. We have gained the reputation of a democracy and protector of those that can not defend them yet we ignore those who have begged for help. The 500,000 dead, the even more who have been misplaced, the woman who have been raped, the homes lost, we cannot change that. However we can stop it from continuing. I’m so glad that there are kids out there who are helping their global community, we need to cry out for those who voices have been lost, we need to keep writing comments to help Darfur, if we banned together maybe we can fix the slums, and make a difference in society. Keep the comments coming for Many Voices for Darfur Day, and let’s show them how much we care! Tell your friends spread the news and help get comments on www.manyvoicesfordarfur.com.
